I have a 26-year-old Subzero refrigerator that was no longer getting cold enough and the compressor fan was constantly running. I contacted Stephen, a Dremus technician, to discuss the issue based on referral from another company.
Stephen was professional in all communications and quickly set a meeting to assess the situation. After his onsite review of the situation, Stephen identified that the compressor needed to be replaced and made recommendations to change out additional portions of the system based on their age. This recommendation was based on the compressor being 26+ years old and it was using R-12 refrigerant, which is very expensive and difficult to get, so rather than repairing, replacing it would be the more logical and cost-effective route long term with the new compressor using R-134a refrigerant. He recommended replacing the heat exchanger, the coils (as there appeared to be a leak), and the thermostat control unit. We further discussed the potential to change the compressor for the freezer based on the fact that it was also using R-12 and its future repair would likely not be possible. So, by replacing both compressors at this time I could save some cost in labor and basically have a completely rebuilt internal unit. Total cost was $2,300 to repair the built-in Subzero that has provided us with outstanding service for 26 years verses replacing it at a cost of $8,000-$15,000.
Stephen, after working on the formal estimate, which was totally in line with his initial assessments, quickly ordered the parts and scheduled the work. He kept me updated on the status of arrival through texts. On the day of the repair, he arrived exactly on time with a fellow technician, Henry, and immediately got to work. Both were meticulous in how they approached the repair, seemingly reviewing the work and discussing options as necessary. Stephen addressed any questions I had as he worked through the repair. His experience and expertise seemed to show as I asked about actions he was performing at times and the way the system worked. Both my wife and I felt confident we had made an outstanding choice in having Dremus take the job and, more importantly, Stephen perform the repair. As a side and an example of his professionalism, as he was conducting my repair, he received no short of 6-7 calls that seemed to either check on the status of a future repair or was someone seeking a repair. On each of these calls he was patient and provided a positive response to the caller either asking for their address to come to assess their issue or provided an immediate update to a current planned future repair.
I would highly recommend Dremus for any appliance repair you may need and, if possible, request Stephen as your technician as he is the most professional and courteous repair technicians I have ever dealt with and will definitely seek him out for future repairs.
Amazing service! Stephen was at my house within 48 hours of my home warranty request being submitted, after another service provider failed to follow up with them for over a month. Night and day difference in service by comparison as this time it was far more meticulous than the previous company. Stephen took his time to properly inspect and diagnosis my dishwasher's issues, showed me the problems, offered me some tips for optimal usage in the future. He never made me feel like he was rushing to get the job done and he followed up with the warranty company shortly thereafter to get the issue resolved.
